In addition to three categories of exhibits, it houses the Fern Watson Library, the office, the kitchen, restrooms, and storage for generations of artifacts. The Jefferson County Museum’s collection consists of more than 2,200 artifacts; 4,000 images; hundreds of books, pamphlets, and other published materials; and hundreds of pages of 18th-20th century documents and family papers. The museum has a large collection of objects and archives related to the Civil War. Enjoy our temporary rotating exhibits and regularly refreshed displays. The purpose of the County Museum shall be to preserve and promote culturally and historically significant sites and heritage throughout the county to cooperate and assist in establishing and maintaining any museums in Jefferson County.
